For Immediate Release: 22 May 2025
The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) calls on all eligible architectural candidates and professionals to act decisively and take full advantage of the 2025 Amnesty Campaign, an unprecedented opportunity to restore their professional registration and rejoin the architectural profession.
This landmark
initiative, which was officially launched on 1 April 2025 and runs until 30
June 2025, is open to individuals whose registration with SACAP was cancelled
due to non-payment of annual fees before 1 April 2022.
The Amnesty Campaign is more than a reinstatement process; it’s a national call to re-ignite professional aspirations and strengthen the architectural profession for the future.
This is
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says SACAP Registrar, Adv. Toto Fiduli. “We
encourage all eligible professionals to step forward, rebuild their careers,
and play a part in shaping the future of architecture in South Africa.”
Why act
now?
·
Only two months remain – deadline: 30 June
2025
·
All administrative and penalty fees are waived
·
Only the 2025/2026 annual fees are required
for reinstatement
Eligibility
criteria:
·
Applies only to those whose registration was cancelled due to
non-payment before 1 April 2022
· Excludes individuals deregistered due to
misconduct or ethical violations; Those whose registrations were cancelled for
misconduct and have outstanding invoices related to the misconduct will need to
settle these amounts before applying for amnesty.
Benefits of the 2025 Amnesty:
· Re-registration through the amnesty allows
practitioners to regain their registration by simply paying the current annual
fee, which will cover the 2025/26 financial year.
· This route is significantly more cost-effective than
the standard re-registration process, which typically includes the fee for the
year of removal, a penalty fee, an administration fee, and the current annual
fee.
· Practicing architecture without SACAP registration is illegal. SACAP has formal agreements (MOUs) with municipalities to ensure that only registered professionals can submit building plans. The amnesty provides a vital opportunity for practitioners to restore and maintain their legal standing.
Don’t let this unique chance pass you by. Ensure you’re ready to resume your status with SACAP’s support. Time is running out—apply before 30 June 2025! For more information, please visit the SACAP website: www.sacapsa.com or email info@sacapsa.com
