Elegant proportions are everywhere: nature, buildings and our own bodies.

They make life worth living for.

As there is lawfulness in musical intervals, there is lawfulness in the proportions of beautiful buildings. Refined proportions are not random. Without a deeper understanding it's guessing. You can significantly enhance your designs using the principles of proportioning. Throughout history all great architects and painters used different proportioning systems. Life can become a lot more interesting than a grid!

This 4-week online course will combine mathematical principles and exercises to enhance your design process and tune your intuition when it comes to aesthetics.

We will be working with a range of proportioning systems: Cubit, Fractals, Musical Proportions, Root Proportions, Golden Section and more.

It’s different from any other course you’ve done. It's mentally engaging, creative, out of the box, and you'll be making models, working on real projects, sharing with fellow designers and taking part in open discussions.

International Use of Colour -Workshop and Short Course

Description

This course provides an understanding of colour as a visual phenomenon. It covers the Natural Colour System theoretically and includes exercises. It also discusses colour usage and design in South Africa. Students receive an internationally recognised certificate of completion. Accredited by SACAP and validated by GIfA for 2CPD Points (CAT 1) since 2008.

The course aims at giving a basic knowledge about colour as a visual phenomenon. A thorough explanation of the Natural Colour System theoretically together with a series of exercises will be covered. Colour usage and design in South Africa will also be discussed. A certificate of completion will be awarded to each student - This is an internationally recognised qualification.

NCS Colour Centre provides course material, mask, all exercises and NCS Colour pin II all delivered in a course folder. Part of the course will be the NCS Digital Atlas and further discounts are offered on NCS products after the course.

The NCS Colour Pin II, which is included in the package, allows one to check that the samples are placed correctly and can be used after the course. The Colourpin has the full 2050 NCS standard colours plus outputs to Lab (D50 and D65), sRGB, CMYK, and Lab*- cross-references with global digital colour standards. Export the colours from NCS+ into a format that suits you, whether it's Adobe, Vectorworks, Powerpoint or Figma, to name a few.
